Age-friendly Buncombe Receives National Recognition

Age-friendly Buncombe, through its partnership with Land of Sky Regional Council, was awarded a 2020 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). NADO is a Washington, DC-based membership association of regional development organizations that promote programs and policies that strengthen local governments, communities, and economies through regional cooperation, program delivery, and comprehensive strategies. The association's Impact Awards program recognizes regional development organizations and their partners for improving the economic and community competitiveness of our nation's regions and local communities.

New Advisory Group for Age-friendly Buncombe

A new Age-friendly Buncombe Advisory Group will begin to meet quarterly in February 2021. This group includes leaders from a wide range of sectors, with experience in many domains. 

The Group's roles and responsibilities are as follows:
  • Promote the Age-friendly Buncombe Common Agenda and related activities.
  • Support work on Age-friendly Buncombe Goals and Objectives.
  • Connect Age-friendly Buncombe with relevant and related work in the community.
  • Evaluate available data and other sources of information to understand the existing, emerging, and changing needs and opportunities for an Age-friendly Buncombe
  • Produce an Age-friendly Buncombe Annual Report.
